Pyjama king Peter Alexander admits he's losing sleep over his latest design job. And no wonder - designing PJ's for a big black Cougar is quite a challenge!

The Melbourne designer has been commissioned to design a special interior for the sexy new Ford Cougar, which will be unveiled on October 5.

Peter has also designed a limited run of Cougar pyjamas, which will be given away in a national competition as well as to Cougar celebrity owners such as Mimi Macpherson, Ironman champion Ky Hurst, action girl Tania Zaetta and celebrity hairdresser Joh Bailey.

When we spoke to him this week, Peter was keeping mum on the full details of his fitout. But already there's talk of lots bright orange and red ultra suede, and the word "grrrrr" emblazoned up the side.

"At first, I was thinking of my signature designs such as cloud or spot prints," said Peter.

"But after much thought I realised what people expect from Peter Alexander is the unexpected - this is what you will get."

Ford too is delighted with the concept, assured the talented young designer will deliver something special.

"Peter and his designs reflect what the Cougar is all about - young, sexy, aspirational and lots of fun," says Special Vehicle Operations Brand Manager Stephen Eyears.

The unique Cougar will be unveiled at the launch of Ford's new premium brand, FTE, on October 5 at South Wharf.
